About me.

I am originally from Brantford Ontario, about 45 mins from Waterloo where I used to live with my mom and sister Kathy. I come from a very polish family that don’t completely get what I am going to school for, but that ok not many people do.

My interest in International Development was sparked in grade 12 when I took a class called Canadian & world issues. I loved that class and was very passionate about everything I worked on. When it came to choose where to go to school and what to take, that’s where it got tricky. I had no idea what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. For some reason, perhaps it was my guidance councilor pressuring me, I decided I would take arts and business and UW. I would be able to figure it out along the way. The summer before I went to UW I was really excited to pick my electives, one of which being Intro to International Development. The moment I realized this was a program (the first week of school) I was already intrigued. I eventually realized that my business classes weren’t really interesting me like my international development class. Long story short, I ended up switching into international development, have been there since, and do not feel like straying from it. If you decide to take international development like me, I encourage you to stay at St. Paul’s University College so you can network with other indev and environmental studies students!
As part of my four year degree I will be going on an 8 month placement next year in Kumasi Ghana. I will be working at an organization called A Rocha. In short, this non-governmental organization (NGO) focuses on environmental action through community-based conservation interventions. I will be talking more about what they do and what I will be doing in my upcoming blog posts.

The purpose of this blog is so that I can update the people in my life (well the one’s that aren’t so polish and can actually read this hehe sorry mom), other students & teachers, and maybe even just random blog followers.

This is just the beginning.
